Day 3: Los Números

Today is Day 3–Los Numeros
I played the youtube video and honestly, the music annoys me and the pace is too fast. But the good thing about it is it gives a good visual of the numbers and how they are written. I recommend you pause at each number and read it out loud.

The games are ok. I preferred the flash cards and matching.

I think the most HELPFUL link for Day 3 is the one that says, “Numbers 1-30” because it lets you learn each number at your own pace and it says the numbers so you can hear how they are pronounced.

If this helps you, remember that
11-15 end in “ce”
16-19 are like addition problems.

The word “y” in Spanish means “and” or “plus”.
So diez Y seis literally means...
     Ten plus six!
The y becomes and i in “dieciseis”
Hopefilly that will help you remember 16-19. This applies to 21-29 as well.
Veinte y uno (21) means twenty plus one.

Here’s another helpful youtube video I liked for learning numbers

Have a blessed day!

Day 1: La pronunciación

Good morning! Buenos días!

Bienvenido a dia numero uno de Español!
Welcome to day one of Spanish!

SUCCESS TIP:
Please take notes in your notebook on EVERYTHING you learn in this class and bring your notebook to class so you can have a visual reminder to refer to when we review the material in class. 👀 Also, say the words out loud. The purpose of language is to SPEAK IT, so say the words OUT LOUD as you’re learning them. They will stick better in your brain🧠
Let me know if you have any questions.

Study Tips & Motivation

I’ve started the course with my kids and it’s been helpful to learn by the following procedure:
1. Watch and listen to the video
2. Watch, listen and SAY the words OUT LOUD along with the video. (Muscle-memory learning happens then!)
3. Mute the video and try saying the words, pausing when necessary to give yourself a chance to remember.

Another great way to success is MOTIVATION...to remember WHY you’re learning Spanish. This video may help you get in touch with the value of learning how to speak Spanish

Dustin Luke is a cool youtuber who learned how to speak Spanish and moved to Argentina. Eventhough you will not understand what he’s saying, I think it would be beneficial to watch one of his videos every day just to hear what the language sounds like. I think it will help you become more comfortable pronouncing Spanish words as you learn them.

Intro

Many parents have shared that they have done some online and book study with Spanish, but felt that learning was hindered by lack of opportunity to PRACTICE and utilize what they had learned in REAL LIFE, so our plan is to have learning time AT HOME EACH DAY BEFORE CLASS, so our class time together will be spent REVIEWING, and REINFORCING what has been already learned. There will be weekly written quizzes IN CLASS for accountability, and we will practice what we’ve learned in CONVERSATIONS with each other.

I know many of us pay lots of money on curriculum, so I was hoping to find the most cost-effective learning materials...and I found something that’s FREE AND ONLINE, with great videos and games that I wish had been available when I took Spanish in school! I’m loving this technology!!!

Here’s the link to the free Spanish 1 curriculum.

So...your first day of Spanish LEARNING should be at home on August 27 to give yourself enough time to learn Days 1-6 BEFORE OUR SEPT 6 class. THERE WILL BE A QUIZ IN CLASS ON THIS MATERIAL, SO BE READY!!!!
